NaNoWriMo: Last Day

I validated my novel a few days ago; I reached 55,107 words.

November has been a bit of an exhausting month for me; especially the last few days with spending so much time with family for the holidays.

I have a back log of books and blog posts to do, so expect a lot of updates soon.

With NaNoWriMo drawing to a close, I remain unsure if I will continue on the NaNo path next year; let's see how well these edits go.

Hope everyone had a merry holiday! Happy writing and reading!

(Short and sweet isn't going to become a new style, I'm just trying to conserve words for the book blog posts (and prevent prattling). Yesssssss.)

Day 23: 41,742 Words

41,742 words. BAM!

I super want to hit the 50,000 word mark by/on Thanksgiving so I can call it good. I'm ready to hang up the writing cap for a bit.

Well, the 'creatively constructing a story' kind of writing at least.

I made it out to the Grand Rapids Comic Con yesterday which was SUPER sweet. I managed to snag 12 trade paperback books I've been keeping an eye out for so that was pretty stellar. Saw a lot of folks in costume, walked around a lot and chewed on that hot con air.

Other than that, I've been keeping stupidly busy and trying to snatch sleep amongst my work, social, and writing calendars. Hahaha

Happy writing!

Day 15: 23,608 Words

23,608 words.

....so it's been 6 days since I last posted, and I've only conquered just over 200 more words.

I could sit here and make excuses like 'I've had a super busy week', 'Work is stressful', 'The dog has been weird', and 'I have other hobbies that are taking up my time'. The typical excuses, which none of them apply to me. I've just spent my time reading books and catching up on TV shows (which is super weird, usually I don't watch TV but then they have Arrow and Flash. I tried watching Gotham but I'm going to take a hard pass on that debacle).

But I've just been a bit stuck on my story. Having a moment of weakness if you will. Several moments of weakness in a row.

Today, I'm going to be busting through this block. Maybe I'll only get 1,000 words in, maybe only a 100, or maybe I'll reach the 25k mark that I'm 'supposed' to reach today to be on track. Who knows?

I know I'm going to try.

I have four books stacked up that I need to blog about as well.

This is my life, these are my choices.

More to come.

Happy writing!

Day 9: 23,407 Words

23,407 words.

My eyes are having problems closing, focusing, and comprehending things that aren't letters.

I can't even.

I blitzed through about 8,000 words one day when I wrote a super emotional point in my story and had to stop periodically to cry and pace.

Everything got real. [/writer problems]

Did you know I'm a ruthless writer? I've already killed off two of my main characters. I've started to introduce more, but those heart strings, I'm going to break every one by the time you reach the end.

...I also plan on writing a sequel.

OH. NELLY.

I need to go to bed. ....probably will give myself a day off tomorrow, because what is life.

....writing process....so much emotional carnage...

.....

Happy writing!

Day 4: 11,708 words

....11,708 words.

I'm alive, my finger muscles have gotten weary of my constant typing, but it's so worth it.

Some questions I've been asked about NaNo, expressed in a grandiose manner for my entertainment.

WHY ARE YOU WRITING SO MUCH RIGHT NOW?

...because I want to take breaks on the weekend and not have to play catch up all month.

WHY YOU BE WRITING AT ALL?

Because it's fun. I actually enjoy writing all the time; it's one of the most rewarding experiences for me. NaNoWriMo is a perfect excuse to indulge in writing for a whole month.

YOU CRAY CRAY.

I know, I'm still reading books and catching up on Season 2 of Arrow (shameless plug).

SO YOU'RE NOT DEAD?

No, maybe a little exhausted. Super exhausted, but emotionally so happy.

...ARE YOU SURE YOU'RE NOT DEAD?

..yes.

I'M SUPER STUCK ON MY PLOT/STORY. WHAT DO I DO?

Keep in mind where you want your story to wind up; how do you want to get there? What parts are important to see? What drives your characters? Keep that in mind as you write. Feel free to have a notebook cluttered with notes, it helps.

WHAT IF I DON'T KNOW HOW I WANT MY STORY TO END?

Then keep writing, FOREVER.

WHEN IS NANOWRIMO OVER AGAIN?

November 30.

SO I'LL GET BOOK BLOG POSTS WHEN THIS IS ALL DONE?

Maybe. Probably. Yes.

WILL I GET ANY BLOG POSTS THIS MONTH?

Ehhhh....most likely. I have some blog posts in the works from before NaNoWriMo started, I just have to get up the will power to finish them.

GET ON IT. I HAVE BOOK NEEDS.

No.

WHAT????

No.

....SERIOUSLY, WHAT????

No.

IS IT WEIRD TO KIND OF INTERVIEW YOURSELF?

A bit, but it helps that I've gotten into strange conversations about NaNoWriMo. Yep.

.....

........

I'll just go back to writing now.... yeah....

Happy writing!
